Presenting:  How to Trade in “Niceness” for Assertive, Diplomatic Conversation
Is being “nice” backfiring on you? Do you wish you could express your true thoughts but hold back out of fear you’ll appear uncooperative, unlikeable, or less intelligent than your co-workers?  For example, do you agree when you should debate, respond to off-hand criticism with silence, and say, “Yes”, when every bone in your body is screaming, “No”?  This presentation is for you, if you’d like to learn how to speak up in a way that allows you to be true to yourself and respectful of others.
Janet Parnes spent more than 20 years in sales and public relations. She worked for companies that include chip manufacturer Analog Devices, Lipton Tea, and international public-relations agency Porter Novelli.  In 2005 Janet picked up on a dream and attended the Protocol School of Washington®.  She now equips her professional clients with skills that build rapport to fuel their businesses and careers.
Janet has presented to organizations that span a broad spectrum of industries. These organizations include Keller Williams, Bentley University’s Center for International Students and Scholars and numerous Chambers of Commerce.
Her media appearances encompass NBC, NPR, and the Boston Globe.
As a professional storyteller, Janet uses these skills to pepper her events with trivia and tales. As she says, “We learn the most when we’re enjoying the process.”
